Our Story
## The Problem We Saw
In 2022, our founder watched a solo enrolled agent spend 40 hours manually preparing audit responses for 14 clients — even after using tax preparation software. The work wasn't complex; it was tedious: pulling prior returns, cross-referencing IRS notices, drafting structured letters, and tracking response deadlines across multiple cases.
The agent had no scalable solution. Professional audit response services charged $500-$2,000 per engagement, pricing solo practitioners out. Generic AI tools lacked knowledge of IRS formats and audit timelines. Existing tax software focused on preparation, not response.
## What We Built
AuditKit emerged from that gap. We built an AI workflow specifically for IRS audit response — document ingestion, response drafting in IRS-compatible formats, deadline tracking, and client communication templates. Every feature reflects what we learned from direct conversations with enrolled agents and tax preparers across 11 states.
## Why AuditKit Exists
Solo tax professionals shouldn't need a paralegal to handle audit season. We designed AuditKit for single-operator practices where every hour spent on documentation is an hour not spent on client relationships. Our verification process ensures AI-generated responses meet IRS expectations — we built that pipeline because we know output accuracy isn't optional in a regulated industry.
